Sometimes things just happen that can either spoil your weekend trip or could just be a quick fix without ruining the vacation you planned. One of those issues is health, and in this article I am going to specifically talk about dental treatment if something bad happens.
Recently, one of my readers emailed me to tell me their story and I thought I’d share part of it here (after they gave me permission).
This couple had recently traveled to Orange County, California to spend a weekend enjoying a break from the cold temperatures in Canada. During the weekend trip they saw many of the popular places of Southern California, including Disneyland, San Diego and Laguna Beach.
During the trip to the beach Mike bit into a caramel apple and it broke the bonding that held it in. So instead of freaking out, he looked up a couple of local dentist in the area and found this Laguna Hills emergency dentist online through Google.
Although having such an experience must sound rare, they are a lot more common than you might think. This article from Waterpik talks about several issues that could surface while traveling, so it would be a good idea to check it out before you go on your vacation.
Some simple steps that are preventative in nature are:
- Try to get any treatments done well before you leave for your trip, especially if you have had some pain before for that issue. Allow some time between the trip and the treatment so if you have to return for any reason (i.e. the filing or crown falls out or something else that warrants a visit back to the dentist).
- Keep good habits while you are away. It might be easy to skip brushing your teeth when you are out late on the town, but sticking to the routine of brushing and flossing can help prevent any emergency dental visits.
Okay, hopefully that answered any questions that you have on emergency dental treatments while traveling, if you have any other weekend getaway ideas for articles, be sure and let us know by visiting our Contact Us page.
