For many couples, it is easy to start feeling bored and physically drained during the week. Things like work or other responsibilities that are routine make us yearn for activities that stretch us. However, what some people think is interesting or intense, might be completely unappealing to others. When you’re looking for exciting things to do, it is most memorable when you have others who can share in the experience with you. So, if you are looking to get your adrenaline pumping this weekend, check out these intense activities.
Amusement Park Challenge
Any average person would simply go to an amusement park to have fun, so you have to take it up a few notches higher for that “extreme” experience. Instead of just casually going around the park, have a contest to see who can go on the most rides or choose one ride and see who can ride it more times than the other. Most amusement parks also have a haunted house or similar type attraction (which you can use if you dare). Universal Studios in Los Angeles has one of the most memorable and scary ones I have been to. It is called “House of Horrors” and let me warn you ahead of time, be prepared to be frightened.
If you’re thinking of doing something that requires a bit more physical activity, then you could try some water sports.
Kayaking is one activity that has been popular for some time. For those who aren’t familiar with it, kayaking involves paddling a small boat. It can be done in lakes, rivers or the ocean. My spouse and I enjoy slow moving rivers and the ocean harbors the most. Kayaking is a sport that allows us to really bond.
You can also try kite surfing. This is a a very physical sport where you use wind to propel you across the water as you stand on a surfboard. White water rafting is an activity that is ideal for couples, since you have to work together to arrive at the destination. Another popular adventure on the water is paddle boards. This is where you stand up and paddle on a balanced board (looks a lot like surfing but much easier). These aren’t cheap, but paddle boards are a blast (see the below video showing how to begin).
If you liked the video above and want to start with this sport, REI has a massive selection of paddle boards available with free shipping to any REI store.
With these activities, not only will you get an intense adrenaline rush, you’ll be able to experience and appreciate nature too.
Get Up and Jump
For something really intense, why don’t you try sky diving. A lot of people really want to try this but not everyone is brave enough to follow through. And it might not seem romantic at first glance, but some people have even gotten married or engaged while sky diving.
If you’ve already done this or if you don’t really want to do it, then you can try bungee jumping instead. While both activities have you jumping from high places, they feel very different. Both require you to learn about the safety first, and it is recommended to go with a reputable organization.
There are quite a few things you can do for extreme dates and these are just some of them. Doing something extreme doesn’t necessarily mean scaring yourself. You can also try doing really spontaneous and embarrassing things like singing in public or joining a flash mob. Even going to a part of the city that you don’t really know that well can be considered pretty extreme since you’re risking getting hopelessly lost. Extreme can mean a lot of different things and it’s up to you to define it.
